The continuing saga of one man's desperate struggle against humidity
Once I did get the truck and had kicked James off at the departures Lane of Pearson International Airport I headed directly towards Princess Auto, Mississauga location. I did some shopping before they closed then scouted out a place to park the truck for the night.
I decided to park right beside one of the biggest Habitat for Humanity Restore locations in GTA. My primary mission was to find doors to replace The Boathouse doors and the shed door. It was a good night and a good location. As it turned out I was three blocks away from a local police station. This is always a good place to random camp
The next morning I found a bakery. It turns out that they were just opening when I arrived and only had samosas ready. I was looking more for a pastry. They directed me to go next door where there was a food store that sold grocery items. I purchased some stuff there

It turns out Habitat for Humanity was a big bust. The location didn’t stock any outside doors for the reason that they were too heavy. So I decided to phone all of them in GTA. It turns out that’s the case for most of them. After looking at Mississauga restore I ended up buying a dress shirt and two books. Not what you would call building materials.
My next angle of attack was to go through Kijiji ads and Facebook Marketplace ads. This turned up a few results and it was a matter of coordinating with the seller to meet them. It turns out the best match for doors and price was a guy that was only available on Friday, the next day.
So I had to spend another night in the truck. I headed to a swimming pool to get clean and then found another place to park the truck.
Friday morning I had to head towards Milton, which was west of Mississauga. I ended up finding a really nice Italian bakery that serve tea. By real Italian I mean that everyone in the cafe/bakery was speaking Italian. It was a really great experience and I gave them a five-star rating on Google

The guy in Milton was really hard to deal with and it threw my timing off getting to the cottage. I was done in Milton at 3:30 p.m. this meant I had to fight the 401 traffic heading east and then North up to 400 during rush hour traffic, on a Friday to boot. I could not make Bracebridge to pick up the propane tank before they closed. The positive side was that I ended up getting four doors all of which were suitable and in reasonable condition. They all needed painting
I got to Huntsville just in time to do a quick grocery shop before they closed, get gas, and head to the park. I got over to the cottage before midnight
On the second night at the cottage I was organizing some stuff and realized that I had left out some crackers. I had been warned that there was a squirrel on the island but I was too late. The squirrel, a northern flying squirrel, had already gotten into the bag of crackers. I decided to just set them outside so he could finish them off. Not more than 15 minutes later I heard a noise outside, and I found the squirrel calmly eating Breton’s crackers on the back porch. I named him Jumpy.
